Schools and Teachers

The MCA’s programs for students and teachers explore creative learning through contemporary art. Through gallery explorations, studio sessions, digital excursions and resources, talks and workshops, our learning experiences connect students and teachers with contemporary art and artists to encourage looking, thinking and creating in new ways.

Our programs are developed and delivered by a passionate team of Artist Educators, practicing artists who model the essential ingredients for creative learning in experiences for students and teachers – imagination, experimentation, collaboration, risk-taking, creative and critical thinking.

Central to our philosophy is the intention to ‘bring your own story’ to encounters with contemporary art, while generating fresh meaning through playful learning strategies, collaboration and exchange.

Our NESA accredited teacher programs and online resources support teachers to bring contemporary art into the classroom and share experiences with a diverse community of educators.

MCA Learning programs are constantly changing and evolving. Experience the power of creative learning through contemporary art – colour outside the lines with us today!

Pipilotti Rist: Sip my Ocean

1 November 2017-18 February 2018

The exhibition Pipilotti Rist: Sip my Ocean presents the spectrum of Rist’s ground-breaking practice, from her early single-channel videos of the 1980s to her large-scale audio-visual installations and recent immersive environments. Her work is an ode to the heart and the intellect, to the big emotions that sustain us as human beings and to the beauty of the world and the universe around us.

Experience the exhibition with an MCA Artist Educator, or arrange a self-guided visit for your group.
